I love this book. I wouldnt say it's brilliant or literary genius but there is something simple and amazing about the plot. Its like comfort food. I've read it three times. The first time, I couldnt put it down, and the 2 times after it was a nice light enjoyable read. A big piece of apple pie a-la-mode.

first read this book in grade 5, I loved it then, and now in grade 10 still enjoy it, though I prefer City of Bones ;3

I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book... well a little. The next books in the series were much better written. I mean, Bella simply whined the whole way through, and was woeful without Edward. The female lead should have mean stronger. Overall, I've read better books. Try City of Bones.

This book is a quick, witty read. That's all i can say in praise. Their is barely a story line, and the mane character, while many can relate to her in some levels, can be at time annoying or feeble. Good book for passing the time but I think most teens could strive higher on the reading level. A four year old could read this.

Now that i'm older and an English major, I see the point of view of people who snarl at this book. It's true, there is no plot except for the blooming love between the forbidden lovers. Bella is kind of annoying and flat, but that makes it so much easier for the reader to take her place and enjoy Edward Cullen for yourself. And the writing is a little more polished that a fanfic, but were you really expecting a vampire book to be written in the prose comparable to Hemingway? Twilight stands on its own and in billion dollar shoes. Let's see you write a book that can produce that kind of gross. It was a hit because it was easy to read, you could replace the main character with yourself, and the story was sensual. Don't let the naysayers scare you off. They're just jealous. Pick up the book and read it for yourself.

Meyer writes with a very flowing prose that is very readable. However, the story is not very good. There is little, if any, actual plot. The plot that exists, a vamp who can read everyone's mind but his girlfriend's, whose blood smells great to vamps, was ALREADY in the Sookie Stackhouse books. So this is not original. Basically, the original piece here is that vamps sparkle. In addition to the lack of an original plot, nothing much happens. Bella makes dinner for her dad (often), goes to school, and basically obsesses over Edward. In addition, she isn't an interesting character on her own, and she's totally dependent on Edward. All in all, I think this is a step backward in the portrayal of both women and vampires in fiction.

I have read this book yet again! and I enjoyed it as much as the other times! The details are so precise and well, detailed that I felt like I was reading it for the first time !

Shy, quiet, and clumsy Bella moves from Phoenix, Arizona to live temporarily with her father while her mother travels with her new husband. There, she finds herself intrigued by the mysterious Edward Cullen and his family. She later learns that they are vampires. Trouble starts brewing when James, another vampire, catches a whiff of Bella's scent, and starts a deadly hunt for Bella's blood.

Bella Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona to live with her father in Forks, Washington to allow her mother to travel with her new husband, a minor league baseball player. After moving to Forks, Bella finds herself involuntarily drawn to a mysterious, handsome boy, Edward Cullen. She eventually learns that he is a member of a vampire family who drinks animal blood rather than human blood. Edward and Bella fall in love, while James, a sadistic vampire from another coven, is drawn to hunt down Bella. Edward and the other Cullens defend Bella. She escapes to Phoenix, Arizona, where she is tricked into confronting James, who tries to kill her. She is seriously wounded, but Edward rescues her and they return to Forks, having killed James.

17 year-old Bella Swan moves with her father to a dreary place called Forks because she doesn't want anything to do with her mom's new relationship. Her new school is quite different than her old one in Pheonix. There, she makes new friends, and does well in classes. But something else has caught her eye. A mysterious, pale group of students sit alone at their own lunch tables, barely speak to anyone, and always stay in their group. But Bella gets to know them better when she is seated beside the handsome Edward Cullen from the group. At first, Edward is furious to be near Bella. But the more time Bella spends with him, the more her love for him grows. But that's not the only thing that is discovered. Edward has a secret. And Bella is about to find out what it is...
